The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham (HR) promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.
We do this through home and community based services such as community engagement teams, day support, community coaching, in-home support, and by providing respite services for caretakers of individuals with I/DD.
In response to COVID-19, The Arc of HR has temporarily suspended programming and pivoted service provision to include advocacy at the state and federal level regarding inclusion of the I/DD community in relief measures and has partnered with Roonga to organize an online food drive.
By using an online food drive to get food and supplies to individuals with I/DD and families of those with disabilities, we're able to decrease their exposure to the virus found in public spaces such as grocery stores. Questions regarding the online or offline food drive for The Arc can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for working with us to protect the health and well-being of the intellectual and developmental disability community in our area!
