This checkbox saves your login credentials for 60 days so that
you don't have to log in each time you wish to use Roonga. This
is really convenient, but also presents risks. If your computer
is in your house, and only you use it or you trust everyone else
who does, this feature is for you.
If you check this option on a public computer or even on your
own laptop that may be accessible to others, you have demonstrated
truly moronic behavior and we have no sympathy for you. If you
lose all of your postings or someone else posts things in your
name that are embarassing to you and you ask us to help, we will
simply laugh and tell you how foolish you are and ask for your
help in transferring some money from Nigeria...so be careful with
this choice.
There are a few more things you need to know so that you aren't
too surprised when Roonga forgets about you, because it
will sometimes.
Firstly, this feature works by creating a small
cookie in your browser. Don't worry; this cookie contains only a
small random string of characters that reminds us where we have
saved your login credentials. If you clear your cookies, or tell
your browser to forget all cookies when you close your browser, or
you have any other browser plugins that clear or change cookies,
Roonga will forget about you.
Secondly, each browser stores its own cookies so if you ask Roonga
to remember you in Firefox, don't expect it to remember you if you
later open it in Chrome or Internet Explorer. You must check this
box and login in each browser you use.
Thirdly, if someone were to read the cookie and use it on
another browser, they could access your account. Each cookie can
only be used once, so if that happens and then you open Roonga you
will see a scary message on the login page and you will need to
log in again. It's ok to do that after you determine how they got
access to your cookie. It is not likely this will happen unless
you are one of those genuises that runs an unprotected WiFi at
home or connects to one with your laptop and then use Roonga.
Even then somebody would have to be monitoring your connection
with a packet sniffer or something like that. Very unlikely, but
just be aware it can happen.
Anyway, use this option with care and you will be fine.
